The picture shown hiding under the sand should be a starfish, camouflaging accordingly to its surroundings, but i don’t know what kind of starfish is that.It is said that starfishes escape by leaving a part of their body behind, and after a while, it will grow back.Sometimes the body-part left behind can also grow into another starfish, quite amazing ar?hehe^_^.wonder how it feels like to grow from a starfish’s body-part left behind.

    hi zhijie,

yup you are right, the creature next to the star fish is called the sand dollar. They belong to the same family as the sea stars (which everyone calls star fish). They gave spines, tube feet and are symmetrical along 5 axes. They feed on detritus and tiny animals found under the sediment. For more information, you might want to check this webpage. http://www.wildsingapore.com/chekjawa/text/s622.htm

your second point is also correct, some starfish do reproduce by their fragments. read it up here:

    its really rather interesting!

(by the way, in future do leave your comment at the post you are talking about.
this is the riddle post and i cannot move the comment to the reefwalk post.)
